As part of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute’s (CMMI) co-develop Net-Zero-Emissions-CI project, Dr. Nicholas Christofides and Dr. Kyriakos Pavlou conducted a targeted site visit to Petronav at the Port of Limassol. The visit focused on examining a bioMethane-powered barge that supplies electricity to berthed tankers, providing valuable insights into innovative shore-to-ship power solutions. Discussions highlighted the potential of modular green energy infrastructure to support port decarbonization and bridge the gap where permanent cold-ironing facilities are not yet fully developed.
