Riding the Wave Conference 2026

The P2P-Ironing consortium participated in the “Riding the Wave: Advancing the EU Ocean Pact through Science, Innovation and Cooperation” Conference, held in Cyprus on 11–12 May 2026. The high-level event was organised by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus, the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), and the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, under the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Representing the consortium, Dr. Kyriacos Pavlou, PhD, Managing Partner at Electi Consulting Ltd, attended the conference and contributed to the discussions and networking activities held throughout the two-day event. The conference served as an important regional and European platform for dialogue on blue growth, marine innovation, sustainability, and the implementation of the EU Ocean Pact. Its programme brought together policymakers, representatives of EU institutions, researchers, innovation stakeholders, industry leaders, investors, and public authorities to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the maritime and marine sectors. The event focused on promoting collaboration between science, policy, and industry, while accelerating the transition from research and innovation activities to practical market-oriented solutions.

The consortium was invited to contribute to both thematic days of the conference: “Riding the Wave of the EU Ocean Pact Implementation” (Day 1) and “Riding the Wave from Ocean R&D to Market: the Blue Investment Challenge” (Day 2). During Day 2 of the conference, Dr. Pavlou delivered a presentation and live demonstration session to an audience comprising researchers, policymakers, EU officials, and industry stakeholders.

Participation in these sessions enabled engagement with a broad multidisciplinary audience and facilitated networking opportunities with organizations active in maritime sustainability, clean energy technologies, digital innovation, and blue economy initiatives across Europe.
